Product and Services

Preventative Maintenance: Just like a car has serviceable parts – like spark plugs – that have to be replaced periodically, your HVAC equipment has serviceable parts too – such as capacitors, contactors, and hot surface igniters. These parts typically do not last as long as your equipment. Our technicians are trained to examine these parts carefully during the check-up and identify any parts that are starting to show significant signs of wear. During extreme temperatures, these parts are most likely to fail – causing an interruption in the operation of your equipment – leaving you uncomfortable. Preventative maintenance is designed to “prevent” that from happening.

Repairs: All of our technicians are EPA Certified to handle refrigerant.  The refrigerant system in an air conditioner is the same as the cooling system in your refrigerator.  Both are closed systems.  An air conditioner or heat pump that is low on refrigerant is the result of either the system not being properly charged upon installation or the system has developed a leak in the refrigerant system somewhere.

If the system has a leak our technician will try to determine if that leak can be repaired – otherwise our customer will be adding refrigerant that will just leak out again.  It may fix the symptoms temporarily because you a/c may cool for awhile, but the problem – a leak in your refrigerant system - was never fixed.  Sometimes small amounts of refrigerant can leak out at the service valves.  If your system does require more refrigerant, we always use a scale to weigh the amount of refrigerant that we add to a system so that we can charge the customer for the right amount of refrigerant added.

New Equipment Installs: Installing new equipment is an important decision to make because it is a big investment in your home and your family’s health and comfort.

Energy Audit: A home energy audit is an inspection and evaluation of your home’s current energy efficiency.  Cool Max performs energy audits to examine not only your HVAC equipment, but also your entire house. The audit starts with an initial consultation. Like a doctor, the auditor will ask a series of questions about problems that you may have noticed in your home. The auditor will inspect your heating & cooling equipment, your duct system, and even the current insulation levels in your home.

The auditor will use the infiltrometer blower door testing equipment that was developed by the US Dept. of Energy along with a digital air capture flow hood. This high-tech testing equipment allows the auditor to find energy wasting air leaks in your home as well as within your duct system. Once the test is completed the auditor will analyze the results and make recommendations for improving your home’s energy efficiency.

CONTROLLING HUMIDITY: Another important aspect to consider is humidity levels.  Atlanta is known for its high levels of humidity in the summer months.  Too much humidity breeds certain viruses and bacteria as well as dust mites, which are triggers to most asthma sufferers.  On the other hand, air that is too dry breeds other types of bacteria and viruses.  Air that is too dry can dry out your sinuses and cause nosebleeds.  Controlling humidity not only affects comfort levels, it is also an important factor to having healthy air to breath.  Learn more about humidity.

Additional Information

A Geothermal Heat Pump does not create heat by burning fuel. Instead, it uses the constant temperature of the earth as the source for transferring heat through a series of pipes, called a loop. The loop is installed either in a vertical or horizontal position below the surface of the ground, or it can be submersed in a pond or lake. Water circulates through the loop, gathering heat from the earth and carrying it to the house. Then an electrical compressor and a heat exchanger concentrate the heat from the earth and release it inside the home through the ductwork.
