Ductless Heat Pumps, also called Mini Splits, bring you all the energy efficiency of a traditional Heat Pump without the need for ductwork. They make a great alternative to baseboards and other less efficient electric zonal heating, as well as an excellent back-up for wood or pellet stoves, giving you the freedom to burn when you want to, not when you have to. If you want to enjoy the comfort of radiant heated flooring and still keep your heating bill down, we also recommend augmenting your system with a Mini Split.

Ductless Heat Pumps function the same as traditional Heat Pumps, using the natural properties of refrigerant to move ambient heat from the outside air into your home, even on a cold day. They can also, of course, reverse the process to cool your home on a hot day. From the outdoor unit, thin copper tubing delivers refrigerant directly to individual, discreet blowers inside, thus eliminating the need for ductwork and adding to overall efficiency. The extraordinary flexibility of Mini Splits make them ideal for retrofits and new construction alike. If you have existing ductwork and are considering a Mini Split anyway, we'd be happy to advise you.

Traditional forced air heat pumps provide an excellent variety of filtration, allowing for systems thorough enough to help remove viruses, allergens, and even VOCs from the air in your home. Controlled fresh air intake, which can be very important in homes sealed ever tighter in the interest of good insulation, can also be a major benefit to a well ducted heating system.

We take pride in the long tradition Peninsula Heat has fostered with forced air heat pump technology. Our business originated designing and installing quality ductwork systems for homes and light industry, as well as improving existing systems. All a process which demands an expert knowledge of the science behind it, as well as a seasoned intuition for the needs of your home.

Costing about a third less than propane boilers to operate, Peninsula Heat spearheaded the installation of electric boilers for radiant systems when fuel prices soared. And while the competition is still catching up, we've moved on to other energy saving technologies like ductless heat pumps, which can lower the operation costs of your radiant system even further.

Common radiant installations are European style radiators, creating a calm, quiet warmth in every room of your home, as well as in-floor radiant systems, which keep the natural thermostats of your body, namely your feet, cozy warm – along with the rest of you, of course. Because the nature of radiant heat warms physical objects instead of the air in your home, radiant systems don't dry out the air around you, helping keep the relative humidity in your home more stable.
